Traditional Craftsmanship. Bespoke Furniture. Built to Last.
Darren Flintoff is a skilled cabinet maker and furniture maker with over 39 years of experience designing and handcrafting bespoke furniture of exceptional quality.
His journey began at the age of 16 when he secured a five-year apprenticeship with the renowned craftsmen of Robert Thompson, known as Mouseman, in Kilburn, North Yorkshire. After completing his apprenticeship, Darren spent a further five years refining his skills in the workshop, mastering traditional cabinet-making techniques that continue to shape his work today.
Following his time with Mouseman, Darren went on to work with Mark Asplin Whiteley for many years, both in-house and as a subcontractor. He also worked as a subcontractor for a number of other designers and companies, gaining valuable experience across a wide range of bespoke furniture and specialist projects.
Around the turn of the millennium, Darren took his skills to New Zealand where he worked for the renowned yacht-building company Alloy Yachts. During this time, he worked on the prestigious 49-metre sailing yacht ‘Georgia’. This was built for the millennium and was the largest single-masted sloop ever built at the time. Darren was around 30 years old when he worked on the project, an experience that added another unique dimension to his already extensive woodworking and craftsmanship background.
After returning from New Zealand, Darren continued working with Mark Asplin Whiteley both in-house and as a subcontractor, as well as undertaking work for numerous other designers and companies. In 2006, Darren established his own bespoke furniture business, bringing together decades of experience in traditional cabinet making, specialist woodworking and luxury craftsmanship.
Every piece of furniture is individually handcrafted using carefully selected hardwoods, including oak, elm and walnut, along with fine veneers and marquetry where required. Combining traditional joinery with modern precision, Darren creates furniture that is not only beautiful but built to withstand everyday life and be enjoyed for generations.
Over the years, Darren has been trusted to work on projects for British royalty, luxury homes, historic properties and prestigious commercial clients both in the UK and overseas. His reputation has been built on quality craftsmanship, attention to detail and a genuine passion for creating furniture that is as functional as it is beautiful.
Whether you're looking for a bespoke dining table, fitted wardrobes, a handcrafted kitchen, custom cabinetry or a unique statement piece, Darren works closely with every client to turn ideas into beautifully crafted furniture tailored to their home and lifestyle.
From the first conversation through to the final installation, every project receives the same level of care, precision and attention to detail, ensuring each piece is made to the highest possible standard.
